More About The PMO Architect Assessments

Why should I take an assessment from The PMO Architect?

As a leader of project, program, and change management – with 26+ years of experience, including teaching, coaching, and mentoring all levels within a PMO, I have a unique insight to what makes project leaders successful across multiple levels. These assessments are my own creations, used in previous roles and companies to evaluate what my team needed next. I’ve expanded and enhanced them for the general marketplace, but based on the many years of successful and helpful use!

What if I disagree with my assessment results?

With the 6+ years I’ve been using these kinds of assessments, I have about 95% accuracy – which means sometimes the questions didn’t “ring right” for people and they scored lower than expected. That’s why I have packaged them with a debrief call – we can discuss your concerns and where you might have not scored like you expected.

One thing I want to strongly emphasize – these are NOT tests. No one will ever get 100%, and that’s the point. We aren’t looking to pass or fail, we are looking for what you could improve.

What is measured in the Original Project Manager Assessment?

This assessment was created for – and is ideal to support the careers of – PMs from completely new to experienced. The questions cover a wide range of knowledge, including PMI PMBOK, Agile Alliance (Scrum), and even OCM. The questions are set up to measure both your “book” knowledge (what training tells you) and “school of hard knocks”, with answers that only someone who has been there, done that would know. The questions include topics like: Project Planning, Team Dynamics, Customer Communication, Problem Solving, Risks and Issues.

Think you might be too experienced – maybe you need the Next Level version, but not sure? If you buy and complete this assessment, and you score 90% or better on average across the domains, I’ll send you the Next Level Leader assessment FREE.

What are the 7 Domains of the Next Level Leadership assessment?
  • Communication – beyond the comms plan, how you manage bad news, conflict, and hard conversations
  • Stakeholders – how you influence without authority, work with and manage executives, and create alignment
  • Problem Solving – how you structure and manage ambiguous, high-stakes projects, react to problems, and resolve issues under pressure
  • Strategic Thinking – how well can you connect the project execution to the business or client overall strategy, make portfolio-level judgements and understand second-order effects
  • Resource Management – how you plan capacity, optimize people’s time, and manage trade-offs across competing demands
  • Business Value – how you frame project-based work in terms of outcomes, not just activity
  • Leader Ways of Working – your personal feelings and expectations within the project and program management space
